Il Maestro Boris Berman onora il Festival Virtuoso & Belcanto della sua presenza dalla sua prima edizione. Grande pianista ed eccelso docente, capo dipartimento a Yale University, professore onorario al Conservatorio di Shanghai, al Conservatorio di Copenhagen e al Conservatorio di Pechino, offre un interessantissimo recital solistico che unisce una sua lettura di Variazioni brahmsiane fra le meno frequentate ad una prima parte dedicata al compositore ucraino Valentin Silvestrov, con l’esecuzione di tre brani composti in periodi diversi della sua vita. Questo omaggio ad uno degli autori più rilevanti della scena compositiva odierna diventa anche un omaggio alla grande tradizione musicale ucraina da parte di un intellettuale come il Maestro Berman, nato in Russia, formatosi nell’ex-Unione Sovietica, dapprima emigrato in Israele e ormai cittadino statunitense: sicuramente cittadino del mondo.
Maestro Boris Berman honors of his presence the Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival since its first edition. Great pianist and excellent teacher, head of department at Yale University, honorary professor at the Shanghai Conservatory at the Copenhagen Conservatory and at the Beijing Conservatory, offers a very interesting solo recital that combines his reading of the less frequented Brahmsian Variations to a first part dedicated to the Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov, with an execution of three pieces composed in different periods of his life. This tribute to one of the currently compositional scene most relevant authors also becomes a tribute to the great Ukrainian musical tradition by an intellectual like Maestro Berman, born in Russia, formed in the former-Soviet Union, initially emigrated to Israel, now a US citizen: certainly a citizen of the world.
