Juan Barahona

Piano

Born in 1989, Juan Barahona started his piano studies at the age of six in Oviedo (Asturias, Spain).

He attended the Reina Sofia Music School in Madrid, Spain, from 2008 to 2013, under the guidance of piano professor Galina Eguiazarova, chamber music professor Marta Gulyas and the support and advice of Maestro Dimitri Bashkirov.  In 2010 and 2012 he was awarded the “Outstanding Piano Student Award” given by Her Majesty the Queen of Spain. He also received the “Outstanding Chamber Music Group Award” in 2011, as member of the “Albeniz de Prosegur” Piano Quintet.

From 2013 to 2016 he attended the Royal College of Music in London, studying with professor Dmitri Alexeev, where he completed a “Master of Performance” and an “Artist Diploma”, both awarded with distinctions. From 2016 to 2018, he continued his formation at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna, in the class of professor Lilya Zilberstein obtaining a Postgraduate in Piano Performance.

At the moment he combines his solo and chamber music engagements with the position of Professor Accompanist in the viola class of Nobuko Imai and in the bassoon class of Gustavo Núñez at “Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía” in Madrid.
