Virtuoso&Belcanto is a unique and extraordinary event among classical music festivals. Focused on Romantic music, it has reached its fourth season and represents a perfect blend of advanced training, competitions, and musical expression at exceptionally high levels of excellence. It attracts internationally acclaimed teachers and students from all over the world meet in Lucca for two very full weeks every July, to take part in intensive sessions of learning and performing.
The Festival takes place in the musical city of Lucca, the birthplace of Alfredo Catalani, Luigi Boccherini, and Giacomo Puccini. Lucca is also the place where, at the beginning of the 19th century, at the height of the Romantic period, Niccolò Paganini developed his amazing talents as violinist, maestro, and composer, and where he became the most celebrated violin virtuoso of all time.
No other place can be as suitable for the training and recognition of young musician hailing from all five continents, and internationally established teachers who, since 2016 have animated the most beautiful locations of the city of Lucca, during mid-summer evenings, with vibrant, breathtaking performances. These young, talented musicians choose Virtuoso&Belcanto Festival in order to consolidate their technique and measure themselves against their peers in the city that will propel them towards the entire world, towards an international career. Just as it did for Paganini.
